Robert Oatley’s Wild Oats XI was announced this morning as the Overall Winner of the 68th Rolex Sydney Hobart. It had become clear overnight that none of the yachts still at sea could better the corrected time established by the 30.48m (100 foot) maxi skippered by Mark Richards.

Rolex Sydney Hobart: Conditions tough in opening hours of race

The opening hours of the 2012 Rolex Sydney Hobart are proving a real test for all competitors, with some reporting three hours into the race that the swell is bigger than they expected, and the 20 knot southerly combined with an enormous chop has made for a cold, bumpy and tiring ride.

Heesen Yachts – Project Azuro: hull and superstructure joined together

The construction of YN 16650, Project Azuro, is progressing on schedule and is due for delivery in Spring 2014. Hull and superstructure were joined together on Saturday, 1st December at the Heesen facility in Oss, the Netherlands.

Record four-time ISAF Match Racing World Champion and multiple America’s Cup campaigner, Peter Gilmour today announced his retirement from the Alpari World Match Racing Tour and professional match racing on the second day of racing at the Monsoon Cup. Gilmour will bow out after the event concludes this Saturday 8 December.
