The readers of NauticNews have already heard about Theodoros Fotiadis because we introduced this talented young designer in 2009 () with a 170m mega yacht project named Princess Renee ().

We introduce today a 60 foot powerboat code named IF60, designed by T.Fotiadis with the same ideas of combination of luxury and performance, which should hit water end of 2013… so, tomorrow!

Project (YN 16551), a 51m displacement yacht, has been sold and is due for delivery in 2014. This yacht is a 51-metre full-displacement, long-range vessel with a steel round-bilge hull form and aluminium superstructure.

Extreme Sailing Series: Fine French victory on French waters for Groupe Edmond de Rothshchild

The French team Groupe Edmond de Rothschild ended the day where they started it – at the top of the Act 7 leaderboard in Nice with a win in the penultimate Act of the year on home soil. Spurred on by the cheers of support from an estimated 27,000 strong local crowd over the three days of racing, Pierre Pennec led his men to an impressive four race wins on the final day and with it secured third place on the overall Series leaderboard as the fleet heads to the 2012 finale in Rio de Janeiro.

Extreme Sailing Series: Groupe Edmond de Rothschild lead going into the final day as they eye their first podium finish this year

The stakes ramped up a notch today on the French Riviera on the penultimate day of the Extreme Sailing Series in Nice as the battle lines for the final day of Act 7 were drawn. The ever growing public crowds on the Promenade des Anglais witnessed home team Groupe Edmond de Rothschild move into the overall lead and Pierre Pennec’s team has a slim 4.3 point advantage over Oman’s The Wave, Muscat – Pennec’s men gunning for their first Act win this year and McMillan aiming to secure his position at the top of the overall Series leaderboard ahead of the final Act in Rio de Janeiro.

Extreme Sailing Series: ‘Severe damage’ to Series leader The Wave, Muscat who are in a race against the clock to get back on the water

After a day 1 where all races where canceled due to heavy weather conditions, it was a full pressure day at the Extreme Sailing Series in Nice, France, as the gusty conditions, short courses and reaching starts tested some of the world’s best sailors to their limits – including current Series leader Leigh McMillan whose team The Wave, Muscat found themselves limping back to port after a collision on the start line in the final race of the day with Alinghi and Red Bull Sailing Team. The crash, which could be heard by the gathering spectators on shore at the Promenade des Anglais, also left the Austrians out of racing and both teams have a long night of repairs ahead to be back on the water tomorrow.

ORACLE TEAM USA capsize in AC72 on San Francisco Bay

ORACLE TEAM USA, the defender of the 34th America’s Cup, has capsized its giant AC72 catamaran on San Francisco Bay during a training session. No one on the crew was injured.
