ORACLE TEAM USA had a roller coaster day on the water Friday, Aug. 24, during Day 2 of racing in the America’s Cup World Series in San Francisco. ORACLE TEAM USA COUTTS opened with a match racing win, but was later forced to withdraw from the fleet races after a collision with the committee boat. ORACLE TEAM USA SPITHILL bounced back from a middle-of-the-pack first fleet race to win the second and hold on to the top position on the leaderboard.

AC World Series: ORACLE TEAM USA primed for a Super Sunday

Sunday’s match racing final will be an all-ORACLE TEAM USA affair after helmsmen Russell Coutts and Jimmy Spithill each notched wins in the semis at the America’s Cup World Series in San Francisco on Saturday, Aug. 25. ORACLE TEAM USA SPITHILL followed with second- and first-place finishes in the day’s fleet races to hold onto the top spot on the leaderboard.

AC World Series: Starting strong in San Francisco

ORACLE TEAM USA made the first impression count with a pair of wins in the first two fleet races in front of a home town crowd in San Francisco, Calif. – the first stop in the 2012-13 America’s Cup World Series season. Skipper Jimmy Spithill and crew opened with a win in the match racing quarterfinals, and followed with a first-place finish in the second fleet race. Skipper Russell Coutts led off the fleet racing with a win. ORACLE TEAM USA SPITHILL and ORACLE TEAM USA COUTTS now sit 1-2, respectively, after the first day of fleet racing in their home city.

Alpari WMRT: Morvan looking to reach the heights again in St. Moritz

Pierre-Antoine Morvan signalled his arrival at the top table of match racing in 2011, taking an impressive second place finish at the St. Moritz Match Race at the first time of asking. The young Frenchman is looking to go one better next week, having since risen to number three in the ISAF World Match Race Rankings.

RS Elite UK National Championship starts next week

The most competitive event so far for the RS Elite Class starts next week and it will be exceptional in many ways.

Hosted by the Royal Yacht Squadron in Cowes with the forty boat fleet moored in their harbour next to the Castle, the setting could hardly be better. This alone would make the occasion stand out for many sailors who’ve read in awe about the Club and the prestigious regattas they’ve hosted through their illustrious history.

The  is a new one design sailing boat of classical inspiration, for the fans of beautiful classic yachts, coastal navigations and elegant and festive regattas. The concept, developped by Jacques Fauroux, well known naval architect, the navigator Jacques Lalanne and Christian Boillot, double french Dragon Champion, is to fit a powerful gaff rig on Dragon hulls, old and new. These hulls were designed in 1929 to allow young scandinavian sailors to live in a Spartan way on it and sail from one regatta to the next or use for cruising. They are recognised for their seaworthiness, the beauty and the elegance of their lines.

Gold Coast Australia wins Clipper 11-12 Round the World Yacht Race

It was a spectacular scene today as thousands of people turned out to watch the winning crew on board Gold Coast Australia arrive back in Southampton, England at the end of the Clipper 11-12 Round the World Yacht Race. The Australian entry won the race overall securing a podium in all 15 races around the world.

In line with the content of our previous design experience with the M/Y 40 and 46m Discovery, the M/Y 54m Discovery project offers additional confirmation of research conducted over the years into the relationship between architecture and boating; while maintaining a number of basic approaches to linguistic development in which the architectonic archetype of the beam and pillar are dominant stylistic motifs while at the same time serving as the project’s material consistency and image, the typological principle has been supplemented with new content in terms of layout and functions offering owners new ways of enjoying the vessel.
